| Book synopsis |
|
| The aims of this study are threefold: to develop a coherent framework of analytic categories for the description of information; to chronicle in depth the major previous studies of intonation systems in English and German as source of analytic insights and empirical observations; to develop a further perspective for the formulation of intonation functions in an explication of received categories (e.g. «speaker attitude»), in part using the framework of speech act theory. |
